This is just me venting. Then again, that is what blogs are for (to some extent), right?
Being a writer is hard. People sometimes assume that all you do all day is sit with your laptop in hand, throwing out an abundance of thoughts and ideas that just, well, come naturally. Quite to the contrary. Ideas don't just come...they have to be coerced out. And sometimes they don't come for hours, or days...or even weeks.
Then, you have to put yourself in one of the most vulnerable positions out there...open to everyone and anyone's criticism and critique. This is a lot easier said than done when the red pen makes its way over to your paper. Red pens--I'm not a fan. Actually, when I edit I use a purple pen. Why, you might ask? To me, it seems a little less intimidating.
When I'm a teacher, that is one of the small things I will do as I edit my student's papers and correct thier mistakes--choose any color but red.
So, next time you are reading something, remember this...writing is no easy task.
